About new wave surf schoolNew Wave was set up in 2007 by Donald Peace.
Donald is an avid surfer and when he's not teaching others to surf, he's surfing himself! His love of surfing began one afternoon when he was supposed to be going for a Skate with some friends, but instead of the Skatepark, they headed to the beach for a surf. Even though Donald couldn't swim, or even float well at the time, he jumped in at the deep end and caught his first wave. From that point on, Donald realised that surfing was what he was meant to do. He learnt to swim at the local leisure centre, gave up his nicely paid job, and then he travelled to Cornwall and achieved his Surfing Instructor qualification and Beach Lifeguard qualification. He then started up his own surf school based in Morayshire. Since then, Donald has been helping people from all over Britain to feel the same magic as he did - the magic of CATCHING A WAVE! |
New Wave Surf School Support Team
Andy Jones: Surf CoachYou may recognise Andy from the bike shop Cycle Circle in Elgin. Andy has now retired from his bike shop, and has come on 'board' to help Donald teach Surfing, and to bring some extra good vibes to the Surf School. We're stoked to have him joining us! When Andy isn't working with Donald, he's out surfing, biking, golfing or hanging out with his family.
Hayden Peace: Assistant Surf & Sup CoachHayden is Donald's eldest Son, who was practically raised at the beach! He is now a city boy, studying in Glasgow, but he comes back home to Lossie to help out with Surf and Sup lessons over the Summer Holidays. When he's not studying or working, he's usually to be found on a stage somewhere, playing guitar with his band 'The Zebecks'.
Oli Peace: Young Leader & Surf Hut CrewOli is Donald's youngest Son. He helps out with lessons and hiring gear, and is on the Surf Hut Crew. He's had a few years away from surfing due to following other passions, but is now frothing to get back into it! His favourite things about working with the surf school are meeting new people, being part of the surf community, and sharing the stoke with others. When he's not at the beach, he's playing guitar, building pixel art games, or hanging out with friends.
Malu Peace: Young Leader & Surf Hut CrewMalu is Donald's Daughter. She helps out with lessons and is also on the Surf Hut Crew. Her favourite thing about working with the surf school, is helping little kids catch waves and sharing the stoke. She has a passion for all things nature related, and loves fantasy art and films. You can usually find her traipsing through forests looking for mushrooms and mosses, creating spectacular pieces of art, studying different bird species, or jumping in the sea for a surf.
Maisie Jones: Young Leader & Surf Hut CrewMaisie is Andy's Daughter. She has become an integral part of the surf school team by making sure that all used surf gear is cleaned, put away, and organised properly. Her favourite things about working with the surf school are all the great people she gets to meet, and that it makes her feel that she can do anything she puts her mind to. In her spare time, Maisie loves playing Ice Hockey and surfing with friends and family.
Fraser Brown: Young Leader & Surf Hut CrewFraser started surfing with his Mum and Dad a few years ago, and soon became a regular attendee at our Lossie Surf Club. Since then, he's gone from strength to strength with his surfing, and has become an integral part of the New Wave team, helping Maisie, Oli, and Emily with Surf Hut duties. This Summer he'll be assisting on lessons too, and we're psyched to have him on board! He loves working at New Wave Surf School because "it's Fun and the team are Radical". In his spare time, Fraser loves to surf the wedge in Lossie, and play his guitar.
Kerry Peace: Admin & WellbeingKerry is Donald's Wife. She helps out with the admin for the surf school, and looks after hard working New Wave Staff. When she's not assisting with surf school duties, Kerry likes to take part in creative arts projects, run creative mindfulness and wellbeing sessions for kids, adults and families, and she also loves to spend time in her veggie garden.
